Monash Mayor outlines priorities

Jun 2008 Monash mayor Paul Klisaris said the council had identified the completion of the Glen Waverley Rail Path and Scotchmans Creek missing sections as "major priorities" in the next few years.
He predicted the rail trail would be linked to Gardiners Creek Trail once the trail was "connected to the City of Boroondara".
"Designs to extend the bike path under Warrigal Road are in the final stage of preparation.
"The projected cost for this road crossing is between $1.2 million and $1.6 million, including a link bridge on the Monash side of Warrigal Road."
He said the Scotchmans Creek Trail had been designed as a recreational path in the late 1980s to mid '90s "to the standards [of] the day".
"The location of objects such as the creek and retarding basin makes it difficult to alter alignment of the path to make it more commuter fiendly."

Monash University Bike Lanes

Jul 05 Monash University are in the early stages of planning for the installation of bike lanes to improve rider circulation around the university.

Some of the options being considered include on-road lanes on the Ring Roads, a lowering of the speed limit on campus to 30km/h from 40km/h and also the possibility of closing sections of road to make them more cycle and pedestrian friendly.

Bicycle Victoria would like to see Principal Bicycle Network funding of on-road lanes on North Road between Huntingdale Road and Monash University to increase the number of riders commuting to university.

To the west, on-road lanes being installed on Wellington Road between Taylor's Lane and Napoloen Road and upgrades to Wellington Road facilities closer to the university will also help achieve this.
