Thompsons Rd Upgrade
Jun 07 The new bike lanes on Thompsons Rd are 90% finished and are a great addition to the bike riding infrastructure in Manningham. The lanes are a mix of on road and back of kerb bike lanes.

The only disappointing aspect is that the back of kerb sections does not have sawcut concrete so it is quite bumpy for riders, especially for road bike riders heading out to the hills on training rides. We have raised the issue with VicRoads to avoid it happening on other projects.
Jul 05 In April 2004 the Minister for Transport announced $12 million in funding to upgrade Thompson’s Road between Manningham Road and Foote Street in Lower Templestowe.
The design for the upgrade includes 1.5m on-road bicycle lanes in each direction with certain sections to have a 1.5m dedicated cycle lanes at the back of kerb, providing an extra degree of separation for riders.
Tenders are currently being called by VicRoads with detailed design and construction to commence before the end of the year. It is expected that works will be completed by mid 2007.
