Alpine Shire

The Alpine Shire is approximately 300 km north east of Melbourne with a population of over 13,000. About 92% of the shire is public land including parts of the Alpine National Park and all of the Mount Buffalo National Park.

Ararat Rural City

Ararat is approximately 200 kilometres northwest of Melbourne with a population of just over 11,000 in the local council area. The town was established in the 1857 gold rush.

Ballarat City

Ballarat is one of Victoria's largest cities with a population of nearly 86,000 in the local council area. It is approximately 108 km northwest of Melbourne.

Bass Coast Shire

Bass Coast is located approximately 130 km south east of Melbourne and is predominantly a coastal municipality whose two major industries are tourism and agriculture. The population is just under 30,000 although this climbs to 60,000 during peak holiday periods.

Baw Baw Shire

Baw Baw Shire is located in West Gippsland, approximately 90 kilometres from Melbourne, with a population of about 38,000 people. The shire is made up of over 100 localities spread over 3,855 square kilometres of rolling green hills, towns, mountains and top agricultural land.

Benalla Rural City

Benalla is renowned for its historic botanic and rose gardens and is known as "The Rose City on the Lake". It is approximately 195km northeast of Melbourne with a population of 14,000 in the local council area.

Bendigo City

Greater Bendigo is a major regional centre servicing the towns and rural areas of the Loddon region, about 150 kms north west of Melbourne. The population is just under 100,000.
