Bicycle Victoria's Taster Maps
The Taster Maps have been produced to give new (and not so new) bike riders a "taste" of different types of riding. The maps cover bike path riding, mountain biking and road riding and give you all the information you need to get riding. Information includes tips on how to get to the rides, etiquette and how to find out more about that type of riding. There is also an opportunity to go in the draw to win fantastic bikes. Contact Bicycle Victoria or go into your local bike shop to pick up the maps that interest you. Which one is it?
Cycling Hobart - will be released at the finish of the 2007 Great Tasmanian Bike Ride at the Cenotaph on Regatta Point from 8am to midday and will be available at Hobart Bike shops afterwards. Featured rides are the Intercity Cycleway, Sandy Bay Road, The Glenorchy Mountain Bike Park and the Pipeline Track.
Cruising - with family and friends, featuring the new Federation Trail and the popular Dandenong Creek Trail.
Going Hard - fitness and training. This map suggests rides on the road where you can train with groups or by yourself. The map features the famous Beach Road, the "1 in 20" ride at Sassafras and the Kew Boulevard ride which was where the Herald Sun Tour completed their time trail.
Getting Dirty - mountain bike riding, featuring Lysterfield Park and inlcudes the Commonwealth Games Competition Trail. The map also inlcudes the brand new Forrest Trails in the Otways ranges.
Other maps available
Private groups and government bodies often produce free maps of rail trails, popular touring routes or local council bike networks.

The Melway shows Melbourne's off-road trails with a dotted red line. Most of these are usually located along rivers and creeks or through parkland. Sometimes they run alongside busy roads (such as the Footscray Rd path). The arterial network of bike lanes and shared paths are also shown on Map 592.
Travelsmart maps
Travelsmart has produced a map showing bike routes, lanes and paths, tram routes, bus routes and train lines in inner Melbourne. It is the most comprehensive map of bicycle facilities in the inner suburbs currently available. You can pick up your copy from Bicycle Victoria's office or on Ride to Work Day at Federation Square.
