Latest news

Over the last summer crews have been busy sealing the Bogong High Plains Rd between Falls Creek and the Omeo Hwy. On Friday 24 April Minister for Environment and Climate Change, Gavin Jennings will officially open the road. The businesses and communities in the region are extremely excited about the sealing of the road and the opportunity it brings to increase visitation during the non winter months.

Bicycle Victoria is working with Falls Creek, Mt Hotham, Dinner Plain resorts and the Shires to increase visitation to the region. We see this area becoming the centre piece for cycle tourism in the country due to its diverse range of cycling terrain. A key effort to increase visitation is the launch of the inaugural Alpine Attack, an new event in the Bicycle Victoria rides program that will see riders circumnavigate the Alps on a 230km course that will start at Falls Creek and traverse Towanga Gap, Mt Hotham then take you back to the top at Falls Creek via Omeo.
