Ride a Trail

About this page

A unique and enjoyable bike riding experience.

Rail trails are fantastic pathways built on old railway lines and are great places to ride with the family.

Rail Trails in Victoria have been a reality for years now, and while new ones are still being proposed and constructed, there is a range of mature and accessible trails that are attracting increasing numbers of bike riders every weekend, and are becoming especially popular as holiday destinations. There are a number of trails in other states which are slowly being added to as the success of the Rail Trail philosophy spreads around the country.

Trails provide outlets for local recreation and benefit local economies through the tourism they bring and provide green links and reserves for native plants and animals.

Towns dotted along the trails offer accommodation and refreshments, and you can easily go for a day ride on a short section of trail. While popular with locals, Rail Trails are increasingly becoming destinations of choice for bike riders looking for a different riding experiences. Because of their nature along old railway corridors, these trails are on flat ground and offer wide and spacious routes, often with great views.

A list of current Rail Trails are profiled on this site. Open, available, and ready to be explored, each of these trails has a range of information attached to it in order to make finding, riding and enjoying them easier and more fun.
