Where to Ride
About this page
Explore every facet of the bike riding network around Victoria, and find a style of riding that suits you!
The Melbourne Metropolitan Trail Network (MTN) includes many popular trails throughout urban Melbourne. This section offers pages for each trail in the MTN and contains riding and navigation tips but also links to Bicycle Victoria's campaigns to improve problems and gaps in the Network.
Other paths and trails that are not on the MTN can be found Bike Trails and Rail Trails or Other bike paths and fun places to ride. This section is undergoing a renovation and will currently contain some information that probably is best found in another area. These sections are being refreshed to better deliver information on Where to Ride.
There are some useful Books and Maps to help you find places to ride. Some are for sale, but some can be obtained for no charge. Be sure to peruse through this section when planning your ride.
Let's face it, sometimes you'll need to take a plane, train or automobile (or bus!) to get to your riding destination. The guidelines and rules that are relevant for taking bikes on each form of transportation are summarised under Transport Systems.
The main section for regional and rail trails can be found at Ride a Trail. The pages contained in this section will also carry information about Rail Trail-specific shuttle bus services that are popping up around the state.
