Bite to Dust 09
Adelaide to Darwin 3,320km bike ride. The riders and crew are taking on a major challenge in their quest to raise $100,000 for prostate and breast cancer research. Cyclists and support crew are departing Adelaide on 1 May 2009 en route to Darwin via the Stuart Highway and Uluru. Many of the riders are regulars participants in Around the Bay in a Day, as well as Bicycle Victoria Members. To check out the route they are taking, the daily ride blog or to donate online visit the website. The plan is to arrive in Darwin on 31 May.
Community Meeting on Climate Change - 9 June 2009
Greenpeace Australia Pacific is working hard to prevent catastrophic Climate Change. Climate Change is
not just an environmental problem; it is a community issue affecting youth, children, jobs, health, culture,
food, social justice and the economy. Greenpeace invites Bicycle Victoria Members and their partners to a Community Meeting on Climate Change.

Pedal against Poverty
World Youth International is encouraging people around Australia to Pedal Against Poverty in April. It is a great opportunity to have fun and keep fit while protecting the environment and helping to break the cycle of poverty for disadvantaged children and communities. Help a refugee get a bike
The Red Cross bike program is part of the Red Cross Household Goods program. People donate their bikes to the Red Cross, where volunteer bike mechanics fix them before they are passed on to refugees and asylum seekers. Red Cross is looking for bike mechanics to help with this community-building initiative – see flyer for details.
The Big Ride for The Big Issue - July 2009
Jo Southwell and Anne Hayres will be cycling from London to Paris in July 2009 to support the great efforts of The Big Issue in assisting homeless people regain independence and reconnect with the community. The Big Issue is a magazine sold by homeless people on the streets with $2.50 from each copy retained by the seller to supplement their income.
