Bicycle User Groups and cycling clubs

They'll show you the best rides and help you meet other cyclists.

Cycling clubs and Bicycle User Groups (BUGs) will show you the best rides and help you meet other cyclists.

Check out the hundreds of groups all over Australia listed on the Finda Club or Bicycle User Group.

Bicycle User Groups

Bicycle User Groups (BUGs) are local groups involved in various cycling activities. Some BUGs organise rides, while others campaign for better cycling facilities. A few do both. Many work with local councils. Best of all, they're a great source of information about where to ride in the local area.

Being a member of your local BUG is a great way to get involved with cycling issues. BUGs are always looking for new members.

For instance, since forming in April 2000, Darebin BUG has actively campaigned for the extension of the bicycle network in Darebin.

If you are looking to start your own local BUG, start with the BUG Start Up Manual (right).

Cycling clubs

Where BUGs tend to be municipal focused, cycling clubs are often defined by either a cycling mode or demographic – covering everything from track racing to mountain bike riding. They cater for everyone from veteran riders to recreation-seeking families.
