8. User Guidelines

When your application is successful you automatically become a ‘Parkiteer’. Being a Parkiteer means you have access to the cage at your station at any time.

There are some guidelines for using the cage:

  1. Registered Parkiteers can access the cage using an access card, which will be supplied when your application is approved.
  2. To show you are a registered Parkiteer, you will receive two ID stickers. Attach them to your bike and helmet to show other Parkiteers you are also an member.
  3. Parkiteers should not give unregistered users access to the cage. Unlawful entry can be reported by contacting Bicycle Victoria. Call 1300 546 526.
  4. Only registered users may use the bike cage. Do not give access to a friend or others.
  5. It is recommended that you securely lock your bike when left inside the cage. Bicycle Victoria cannot take responsibility for any loss resulting from a failure to lock your bike.
  6. Do not use the cage for storage of items other than your bicycle.
  7. Report any damage to, or issues with the bike cage to Bicycle Victoria. Call 1300 546 526.
  8. If you lose or damage your access card, report it to Bicycle Victoria on 1300 546 526 and a replacement will be sent out to you. A $10 administration fee is applicable.
  9. Please consider other users when parking your bike in the cage.
  10. Do not wedge door open.
  11. Door can be manually opened from the inside using door handle.
  12. Ensure door is properly secured upon exiting.
  13. In case of card failure or damage, you can call Bicycle Victoria. You can be identified by a password and, if necessary, the lock can be overridden remotely by Bicycle Victoria.
  14. A manual override key is available. Call Bicycle Victoria to organise manual access if necessary.
Once fully registered, Parkiteers receive by post:
    • 1x Access Card
    • 4x ID Stickers
    • Copy of User Guidelines and Terms and Conditions
    • Key Contract details
    • Request to confirm, by phone, a prearranged password (password nominated by applicant as part of registration process online).
    • Once the password is confirmed over the phone, their access card can be activated and rendered ‘live’.
