On 29 April 2005 Minister for Consumer Affairs Marsha Thomson released the interim report for the review of the Associations Act 1981.
Minister Thomson has called for comments on the interim report, due on 10 June 2005.

Bicycle Victoria submission
Bicycle Victoria is extremely concerned about these proposals, and has prepared a submission that:
- agrees that the not-for-profit sector is important to Australia's growth and wellbeing.
- agrees on the need for accountability and transparency, especially for larger not-for-profit organisations.
- encourages the State Government to support a specialist Commonwealth regulatory context. We like the approach proposed by 'A Better Framework: Reforming not-for-profit Regulation' (the Woodward–Marshall Report). See below.
- explains why Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) is not the right destination for Bicycle Victoria and other similar Associations.
