Steps to take for:
- Adobe 7
- Safari v1.3
- Mac OS10.3 or later
Step 1: Remove the Adobe PDFViewer.plugin from the Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder. (You can remove it by putting it in the Trash.)
Step 2: Open Acrobat.
Step 3: From the Acrobat menu, select Help > Detect And Repair and choose Adobe PDFViewer. You should now be able to see PDFs in your browser.
Steps to take for different MAC browsers:
Step 1: Hold down the Control key as you click on the pdf link. The contextual menu should appear.
Step 2: From the contextual menu select Download linked file. The document should now download to your desktop and you can read it off-line.
The file opens, but the screen is blank
There is no single solution to this problem. The following, however, appear to be effective.
Possible options
1. Try a different browser - if you have more than one installed on your computer.
2. Clear your browser's cache before trying to open the PDF.
3. Upgrade to the latest browser and Adobe Acrobat Reader.
4. Open a new browser window for each PDF. After opening the first PDF file and before you open another PDF file, close your current browser session down and then reopen the browser. Locate and open the PDF file - it should open successfully.
5) Save the file and read it in Adobe Acrobat:
- Once the PDF document is loaded, and the filename is displayed in the browser's Location or Address bar, click 'File' on the browser's menu bar at the top of the screen, then click 'Save As'.
- The name of the file you are trying to display (e.g. 'boulder-co.pdf') should be displayed on the line labeled 'File Name'.
- Save the file in whatever folder you like, and note its location.
- From your Start Menu or from an icon on your Windows desktop, open the Adobe Acrobat Reader and click 'File' and then 'Open'.
- Locate the name of the .PDF file you just saved, click on it, and then click 'OK'.
- The file should display properly.
OR
- Right mouse click (or click + Option for Macintosh) on the name of the file you wish to download.
- Click the option 'Save Target As...'. The 'File Download' window will appear followed by the 'Save As' window. Save the PDF to a directory on your computer.
- Once the file has downloaded, double click the PDF file to launch the file with Adobe Acrobat Reader.
